Our Vestry

The vestry is the administrative committee of the church, a group of laypeople elected by the parish to three-year terms. The rector is an ex officio member of the vestry and chairs its meetings. The leading lay members of the vestry are called wardens.

One of the vestry's duties is to select the next rector of the church. The Rector Call Committee will recommend one candidate for Rector. In the event that the Call Committee feels that two candidates are equally qualified to serve as Rector, the Call Committee will recommend both candidates. Also, the Call Committee will be prepared with additional recommendations in the event the Vestry and the recommended candidate do not mutually discern a call for that candidate to accept a call to serve as the next Rector of St. Thomas.

The vestry meets once a month in most months of the year.
